This review is from: Coby DVD-925 5.1 Channel DVD Player/Receiver Home Theater Speaker System (Electronics)
My dad received this system for an award at work. Its definitely not top of the line, but it serves it's purpose. It is not a powerful system, paartially because the sub-woofer is not a self powered unit, but draws it's wattage and output directly from the player, like the speakers. But, it does fair in the room we have it in, and my dad enjoys it. If you want something better, you'll have to pay for it. For a basic system, this delivers. Again, So far my other Coby DVD player has done ok for 2 years, and this one is holding up after 8 months, but be aware there are very mixed reviews. If you want one solid home entertainment center, save your money. IF the kids or yourself want a second system for the bedroom area, than this could fill that niche.

The player is fine and the speakers sound good (even though they are a little bigger than i thought they'd be). I mean it's a good deal for the price, but...
The remote sucks. You'd have to get a universal because it doesn't even have a on/off button and you have to point it at a certain angle (you can't just point it anywhere and expect it to work). I don't know if that part is the remote or the player though. I returned w/o trying a universal remote. I saw a cute one at target for the same price.

The Coby 925 is an inferior product compared with today's technology available. The remote control is practically useless. Does not have a On/Off power button on the remote. Will not work unless standing directly in front of the unit and pointing the remote directly at the receiver. Requires several attempts pushing the same button before the receiver will respond. The biggest disappointment is the rude response I got from the technical service dept. when I called to get help because the unit will not play a DVD movie. I was told to buy another movie and to quote the woman tech..."I don't know what to tell ya." I won't ever purchase another Coby product. Don't waste your time with this product line. This product was installed in a new 5th wheel I purchased, so I did not choose it on my own. I will be forwarding a copy of this to the manufacturer of the 5th wheel. Maybe they will switch to another more reliable manufacturer for the audio/video components they install in... Read more

Pros : Plenty of Volume (1000W) Great pairing with LG T.V. Comes with Excellent Ipod Adapter and sounds great for an all-in-one solution. Chalk full of features. Comes with speaker Wire too. Cons : As with most other systems...Inputs! Only has one Optical but thank goodness for that. Only has preset Equalizer settings. Long Review (A lot to say and want to answer any questions)
I had been looking around for a good 5.1 system that decodes all the popular signals such as Dolby Digital and DTS sound. Not Looking to spend a whole lot of cash I needed a simple solution. I have looked around online and in stores at a variety of options. When it came down to it I had considered heavily on the sony soundbar mainly because it was the only low price ranged sound system with 3 HDMI inputs. But when I went to bestbuy and listened to it all of my fears came true as far as volume. The soundbar was just too low unless I would have... Read more

i made a review of the JVC THG30, and that it is good system, but i saw some reviews on this and decided to get it and compare the two, here are my opinions which i hope helps on your decisions. i agree with the reviewer above about it is a very good system. on looks, all the speakers and the subwoofer have a piano gloss finish, also including the main unit in the front. the speakers are wall mountable all except the center channel speaker. there one auxiliary input, one optical input, ipod input, usb input and a 3.5 mp3 input. it also has a ipod stand included. it has a hdmi output for 1080p upscaling, progressive scan, component, composite video out. a very good tuner and an universal remote. now, how does it sound? the sound is amazing, nice vocals, clear highs and very good bass. the system is very loud, meaning you don't need to turn up the volume almost all the way to hear it. LG just amazes me what they make and this is no exception. this unit is now my main system now. what... Read more

I live in a townhouse with an open floor plan, so not a lot of walls.
After much research, I decided on this system. I did not want a "plaster blaster" and unlike most people (guys actually), I am not all that keen on a thumping base.
This system was a breeze to set up. If I can do it, anyone can.
The speaker wires are all color coded and provided you don't get them all entangled like me, the process is pretty painless. I solved the rear speaker issue by running both wires under the carpet by the patio door and then taking the right rear speaker behind the sofa. I was worried about wires running across the living room floor, but LG provides tons of length to these wires.
I love all the options. I have not used them all as yet, but even my CD's from my CD player sound terrific on this. Of course movies are the best and the upconvert feature is a plus. The picture quality is just great.
I have only turned the volume up to about 17... Read more

This review is from: LG LHB975 1100-Watt Blu-ray Home Theater System, Gloss Black (Electronics)
I purchased this system in May of 2010. When it worked, it worked great and I really enjoyed the quality of the blu-ray player and sound.
About a week ago the wireless subwoofer stopped working. It has power but will not link up with the wireless receiver. I tried everything I could possibly do and couldn't get it to "remate" (connect) again. I then called LG and they were unable to fix it.
LG offered to repair the system but they wants me to spend $70.00 for them to look at it and this does not include shipping. From what the customer service representative told me, the 1 year warranty means that regardless of the cost to repair, my cost is capped at $70.00. I'm not sure how that qualifies as a warranty but according to LG it does.
What is troubling about this issue is that this problem does not appear to be an isolated incident. I searched the internet for reviews from people who owned the system. There are a number of people who are having... Read more

Worked for 120 days, which is 30 days past the Labor warranty. Even though I got a great deal from Amazon, LG's service sucks!! I called them when I started having an issue with the wireless portion of this device. I am an IT guy, and I know electronics. On top of that, I read the manual and did research online before calling Tech Support for LG. Either way, I tried "remating" the wireless subwoofer and rear speakers two dozen times personally, and then another half dozen while Tech Support was on the line. After spending 15 mins on the phone with Tech Support, he proceeds to tell me that I will need to send the unit in for service, at the cost of $69.99!! To me, this is ridiculous! I just spent quite a bit of money on a product for it to last a little under 4 months. I am contacting Executive Service for LG tomorrow during "Normal Business Hours" to see if they will help me out with this issue. If they do not, this will be the last product I EVER purchase from LG!

We got this system yesterday after waiting about six weeks. We had found it when searching the LG site, and while it was "released", the LG rep I emailed said that it was just taking time for the distributors to get it to retailers. LG service was prompt and VERY helpful!
When it was finally available on Amazon, my wife and I jumped on it and had it over nighted. (BTW: Amazon Prime rocks!).
This system was everything we wanted. It was easy to put together, and the NetFlix, You Tube, and the Pandora radio were simple to get going.
The picture and sound quality were excellent and we were thrilled with every feature except one.
The rear speakers are NOT exactly wireless.
We had envisioned that three front three (right, left, and center) would plug into the blu ray receiver, and the subwoofer and rear speakers would be completely wireless.
What we found was that the system comes with a box (about the size and weight of... Read more
